HISTORY :
VIKASANA is a non-government organization (NGO) and a non-profit entity established in the year 1988-89 with an objective to benefit the mankind with the special focus towards socially, educationally and economically weaker sections of the society. Identifying such needy community and meet their needs and aspirations, since last 35 years. Vikasana started its work in five villages of Amruthapura Village of Tarikere Block, Chikamagalur, but today organisation is working with more than 500 rural villages in two districts in Karnataka with special focus towards welfare and empowerment of rural women, children, small & marginal farmers and underprivileged rural communities.
Area of interventions:
- Ensuring free and compulsory basic education with healthy environment for development of children through Bridge School Children Programme
- Legal awareness on child rights, campaign and street play against child labour
- Promotion of Community Based Institutions (Women SHGs, Federation and Farmer Groups) for strengthening the community initiatives, mobilization and encourage habit of savings,
- Empowering and strengthening elected women representatives in Grama Panchayath and creating legal awareness and empowering them towards their rights as leaders
- Empowering, Capacity Building and Strengthening tribal communities
- Promotion of Farmer Producer Company
- Encouraging and promoting self employment, skill development and income generation activities among rural women, youths, adolescence and landless farmers
- Creating awareness and sensitization towards Community Health, Sanitation, food security, nutritional enhancement, safe drinking water and conical decease.
- Awareness and Promotion about Sustainable and Organic agriculture, natural resource management, watershed management, resource conservation, alternative renewable energy, bio diversity, drought relief measures, tree plantation, Herbal medicine
- VIKASANA has been extended its volunteer service during emergency situation in the country like Tsunami, Flood, Earthquake, COVID-19.

VIKASANA envisions holistic development through maximum integration of all activities in order to ensure progress among the rural and urban poor community.
MISSION :
VIKASANA is exists to facilitate empowering of the poor in the process of social development through sustainable improvement in the livelihoods and socio-economic status and self-reliance of the under-privileged sections of society.
